A nurse with a cardigan wrapped around her shoulders moved into his personal space.
Her face was fuzzy like someone was trying to protect her identity. Fading perfume held off the stench of working sweat and her mouth was moving but he couldn’t hear her words. He wasn’t ready to hear.
He couldn’t move. His legs felt like the two stone bollards next to him on the pavement.
The faceless nurse led him gently towards the glass doors that slid from side to side like a gigantic mouth.
He trembled and his teeth banged together.
The hospital doors opened wide and swallowed him whole.
