MY SKETCHES: GOLDFINCH

Here’s the second post in a new series of short reels to showcase my sketches.

So, this is my depiction of a goldfinch. A once frequent visitor to my garden that would feed from wild teasels and thistles.

This is a species that is doing really well with around 1.7 million breeding pairs in the UK. Good to hear that they are on the Green List, most likely due to more and more people putting out Niger seed in feeders for them in their gardens.

Did you know that the collective noun for a goldfinch is a charm. Pantheon, drum, troubling or chirm, are also considered as other group names for goldfinch.
